May. 18, 2006 – USA – A research team at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is developing a heating and cooling system called Active Building Envelope (ABE). This uses photovoltaics (PV) to convert solar energy to electricity, with the electricity then being used to drive thermoelectric (TE) heat pumps that are integrated into the building envelope.
