Air to Water Heat Pump
A specific type of air source heat pump:
It absorbs heat from the air → heats / cools water → uses water for heating, cooling, and domestic hot water supply.
Appearance & Working Principle
- Outdoor unit: similar to an air conditioner outdoor unit, absorbs heat from the air
- Indoor side: connected to underfloor heating, radiators, fan coil units or hot water tanks
- Operation: electricity drives the compressor → extracts heat from the air → heats water → water delivers heat to rooms
Belangrijkste kenmerken
- Produces hot water, suitable for underfloor heating, radiators and domestic hot water
- High comfort: stable water temperature, no dry air, gentler than fan coil air conditioners
- Energy efficient: 1 kWh of electricity generates 3–5 times more heat energy
- Can be used for both cooling and heating: heating in winter, chilled water cooling in summer
- Ultra-low temperature models (EVI) operate normally for heating at -25°C to -35°C
Difference from Air to Air Heat Pump
- Air to Air: air → air, direct cold/hot air supply, i.e. standard air conditioners
- Air to Water: air → water, uses water for heating / cooling / hot water supply, commonly known as air source heat pumps or underfloor heating heat pumps
Typical Applications
- Residential: triple supply – underfloor heating + central air conditioning + domestic hot water
- Commercial: hotel hot water, shopping mall water system air conditioning, swimming pool constant temperature heating
- Industrial: drying, constant temperature aquaculture, process hot water
