17 de setembro de 2008 \u2013 A Comiss\u00e3o da Ind\u00fastria do Parlamento Europeu apoiou legisla\u00e7\u00e3o da UE que visa a implanta\u00e7\u00e3o generalizada de tecnologias renov\u00e1veis, incluindo todos os tipos de bombas de calor. As novas regras poder\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m promover, ou tornar obrigat\u00f3ria, a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de tecnologias renov\u00e1veis em edif\u00edcios novos e existentes. <\/p>\n

A Comiss\u00e3o da Ind\u00fastria, Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o e Energia (ITRE) do Parlamento Europeu votou, a 11 de setembro, a favor de propostas que considerar\u00e3o todos os tipos de bombas de calor como renov\u00e1veis, contrariando as alega\u00e7\u00f5es de que n\u00e3o deveriam ser consideradas como tal por requererem energia auxiliar. A inten\u00e7\u00e3o inicial da Comiss\u00e3o ITRE era estabelecer uma distin\u00e7\u00e3o entre os diferentes tipos de bombas de calor, excluindo as bombas de calor aerot\u00e9rmicas da diretiva proposta. No entanto, a vota\u00e7\u00e3o apoiou o alargamento da defini\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00abFontes de Energia Renov\u00e1veis\u00bb (FER) de modo a incluir as fontes de energia aerot\u00e9rmica, hidrotermal e geot\u00e9rmica, uma vez que a legisla\u00e7\u00e3o da UE n\u00e3o inclui atualmente uma defini\u00e7\u00e3o harmonizada destas.<\/p>\n
