Er circuleert water om de warmte uit de weg af te voeren, waarna deze gedurende enkele maanden ondergronds wordt opgeslagen. <\/p>\n<p>De verwarmde weg, die enigszins lijkt op vloerverwarming in een woning, was oorspronkelijk bedoeld als een manier om ijs op wegen te smelten zonder veel strooizout te gebruiken. <\/p>\n<p>Nu de belangstelling voor hernieuwbare energiebronnen toeneemt, kan het systeem ook worden gebruikt om woningen te verwarmen en te koelen, waarbij de uitstoot van broeikasgassen met 50 procent wordt verminderd. <\/p>\n<p>In het kader van een lopend project wordt de hightechweg gebruikt om vier kantoorgebouwen te verwarmen. De opgeslagen warmte wordt gebruikt in combinatie met <a style=\"TEXT-DECORATION: none\" href=\"\/nl\/\">luchtwarmtepomp<\/a>     om temperaturen te bereiken die hoog genoeg zijn om een gebouw te verwarmen.<\/p>\n<p>Het systeem kost twee keer zoveel als bestaande wegenbouwtechnieken, zo liet Ooms Avenhorn Holdings aan Associated Press weten, maar het zou het onderhoud moeten verminderen en het aantal ongevallen als gevolg van gladde wegen moeten terugdringen. <\/p>\n<p>Het is nog niet duidelijk in hoeverre verwarmde wegen voor algemeen gebruik zullen worden ingezet. Maar het Road Energy System lijkt te werken: de eerste installatie is al sinds 2000 in gebruik.<\/p>\n<p>Ooms Avenhorn heeft ook drijvende huizen ontworpen, die bedoeld waren om ruimte te besparen. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Holland engineering company has designed a heat-absorbing road that bridges winter and summer.
