17 settembre 2008 - La Commissione Industria del Parlamento europeo ha appoggiato la legislazione UE che mira a un'ampia diffusione delle tecnologie rinnovabili, compresi tutti i tipi di pompe di calore. Le nuove norme potrebbero anche promuovere, o obbligare, l'uso di tecnologie rinnovabili negli edifici nuovi ed esistenti. <\/p>\n

L'11 settembre la Commissione per l'Industria, la Ricerca e l'Energia (ITRE) del Parlamento europeo ha votato a favore delle proposte che considerano tutti i tipi di pompe di calore come rinnovabili, contro le affermazioni secondo cui non dovrebbero essere considerate tali perch\u00e9 richiedono energia ausiliaria. L'intenzione iniziale del Comitato ITRE era quella di discriminare tra i diversi tipi di pompe di calore, escludendo le pompe di calore ad aria dalla proposta di direttiva. Tuttavia, il voto ha sostenuto il miglioramento della definizione di Fonti energetiche rinnovabili (FER) per includere le fonti di energia aerotermica, idrotermica e geotermica, dal momento che la legislazione dell'UE attualmente non comprende una definizione armonizzata di tali fonti.<\/p>\n
